Saudi Arabia in talks about 40 Airbus A350s
On 23 October 2022, Reuters reported that the Saudi Arabian Private Investment Firm (PIF) is in "advanced" negotiations with Airbus for a potential order for up to 40 Airbus A350s. The new Airbuses would be destined for the newly planned second national airline, dubbed RIA. A final decision and announcement of the order could be expected within the coming week.
Although negotiations with Airbus are progressing, the news outlet also said that a potential Boeing B787-order hasn't been completely ruled out. The new start-up is also planning to add narrowbody-aircraft and Saudi Arabia has said that RIA will launch with A320neos and B737MAXs later this year.
