Air Hong Kong to retire A300Fs
CargoFacts has reported that Air Hong Kong will retire all of its Airbus A300Fs by the end of 2024. The online news site has learned this from Cathay Pacific's 2022 Annual Report. The first A300F has already left early February. A300B4-600RF B-LDN (770) was ferried from Hong Kong to Dresden on 4 February 2023 and has remained parked there since then. It's set to enter the fleet of EAT as D-AZML later this year.
Air Hong Kong now has eight A300Fs remaining in the fleet, next to two A330-200Fs, and five A330-300P2Fs. The airline is planning to replace the A300Fs with additional A330P2Fs (Passenger to Freighters).
The airline was founded in 1986 and launched operations with a single B707-300C in February 1988. In 1991, Air Hong Kong leased its first two B747-100SFs and would be operating a total of twelve Jumbojets over the years. In June 1994, Cathay Pacific acquired 75% of the shares of Air Hong Kong and increased this to 100% in 2002. In 2003, it welcomed its first A300F and in 2019 its first A330F.
Today, the company is connecting Hong Kong for DHL Express with Shanghai, Chengdu, Singapore, Beijing, Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Manila, Cebu, Penang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
