Air Arabia to wet lease three A320/1ceo for Summer 2023

Air Arabia Maroc (3O, Casablanca Mohamed V) has signed a wet lease agreement with Bulgaria's Fly2Sky (F6, Sofia) for three A320ceo Family aircraft covering the Summer 2023 season.

"We are thrilled to partner with Air Arabia and support their growth by providing them with additional aircraft during the busy summer season. The three aircraft deal is a testament to the strong relationship between Fly2Sky and its partners with a focus on providing the highest quality of service," Fly2Sky Chief Commercial Officer Aleksandrs Gusevs said.

The Bulgarian ACMI/charter specialist said the contract would cover a mix of A320-200s and A321-200s but did not specify the exact split. It did not respond to ch-aviation's request for added colour. The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that Fly2Sky's fleet comprises two A320s and two A321s, with an additional A320 due to deliver shortly.

The Moroccan unit of the Emirati LCC group operates nine A320-200s. Fly2Sky did not reveal where the wet-leased aircraft would be based. Air Arabia Maroc has bases at Casablanca Mohamed V, Fes, Nador, and Tangiers airports.

Air Arabia launches A321ceo operations

Air Arabia (G9, Sharjah) launched scheduled A321-200 operations on October 1, 2022, having already inducted two units of the type, ch-aviation research has revealed.

A6-ATH (msn 7879) operated the first revenue flight from Sharjah to Alexandria Borg el Arab on October 1 while A6-ATG (msn 7833) entered revenue service on October 22, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. The ch-aviation schedules module indicates the low-cost carrier will deploy the two A321-200s out of Sharjah to Kozhikode, Dammam, Gassim, Jeddah, Kuwait, Chennai, Madinah, Peshawar, Riyadh, and Tashkent Islam Karimov, although ADS-B data shows that the aircraft also fly to other destinations, such as Istanbul New, Sialkot, IATA!TZQ, and Alexandria.

The Emirati low-cost carrier added the second-hand A321s on lease from Wings Capital Partners to complement its fleet of thirty-two A320-200s and six A321-200NX. It has a further seventy-three A320-200Ns, twenty-seven A321-200NX, and twenty A321-200NY(XLR)s on firm order from Airbus. It also intends to add a third second-hand A321-200, msn 7903, formerly also of Interjet stock.

Air Arabia to add two Airbus A321ceo

Air Arabia (G9, Sharjah) is about to take delivery of two A321-200s, its first aircraft of the type.

N229WG (msn 7903) and N228WG (msn 7879), 4.9- and a 4.8-year-old jets, both formerly operated by Interjet and owned by Wings Capital Partners, were ferried from Kaunas via Oslo Gardermoen to Erfurt on August 11 and 12, respectively. They remain registered in the US but have already been repainted into Air Arabia's livery. The Emirati low-cost carrier did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment about the two jets' service entry dates nor has it filed schedules for the type.

Air Arabia's current fleet comprises forty-one A320-200s, and six A321-200NX. It has an additional 120 A320neo Family generation aircraft, comprising mostly A320-200Ns (73 units), on order from Airbus. Its Air Arabia Abu Dhabi subsidiary operates a further three A320-200s, Air Arabia Egypt - four A320s, and Air Arabia Maroc - nine A320s.

Air Arabia orders 120 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, including XLRs

Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low cost carrier, has signed a firm order for 120 Airbus aircraft comprising 73 A320neos, 27 A321neos and 20 A321XLRs. The agreement was signed at the 2019 Dubai Airshow in the presence of Air Arabia’s Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, Adel Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer Air Arabia and Guillaume Faury, Airbus Chief Executive Officer.

Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, said: “Air Arabia’s fleet growth strategy has always been driven by commercial demand and we are glad to announce today one of the region’s largest single-aisle orders with Airbus to support our growth plans. This new milestone underpins not only our solid financial fundamentals but also the strength of our multi-hub growth strategy that we have adopted over the years while remaining focused on efficiency, performance and passenger experience.” He added: “The addition of the A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR complements our existing fleet and allows us to expand our service to farther and newer destinations while remaining loyal to our low-cost business model. We look forward to working with Airbus and receiving the first delivery.”

Air Arabia is an all Airbus operator with a total fleet of 54 A320 Family aircraft including the A321LR. All aircraft will feature a comfortable single-class cabin with one of the most generous seat pitches today.

The A321XLR is the next evolutionary step from the A321LR which responds to market needs for even more range and payload, creating more value for the airlines. From 2023, it will deliver an unprecedented Xtra Long Range of up to 4,700nm – 15% more than the A321LR and with 30% lower fuel burn per seat compared with previous generation competitor aircraft.

Featuring the widest single-aisle cabin in the sky, the best-selling A320neo Family, comprising the A319neo, A320neo, and A321neo, deliver at least 20% reduced fuel burn as well as 50% less noise compared to previous generation aircraft, thanks to incorporating the very latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklets. At the end of October 2019, the A320neo Family had received more than 7,000 firm orders from over 110 customers worldwide.
