Condor Takes Delivery Of Airbus' 100th A330neo
Airbus has delivered its 100th A330neo, with German carrier Condor receiving the milestone aircraft. D-ANRJ arrived in Condor's eye-catching 'Condor Beach' livery and operated its first revenue flight yesterday.
Airbus hits A330neo century
The European planemaker delivered its first A330neo over four years ago and has now achieved 100 deliveries of the next-generation widebody following the arrival of D-ANRJ at Condor. It is an impressive achievement for Airbus given the disruption caused by the COVID pandemic, although aircraft deliveries have gotten off to a rocky start in 2023 after Boeing overtook Airbus in quarterly deliveries for the first time since 2018.
D-ANRJ touched down at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) on April 7th following a 90-minute flight from Airbus' facility at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS).
About D-ANRJ
Condor's latest Airbus A330-900 completed its first flight on March 16th and is equipped with two Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. It can seat up to 310 passengers - 30 in business, 64 in premium economy and 216 in economy class.
Since arriving at Condor, the plane has conducted its first revenue flight with a ten-hour, 38-minute trip from Frankfurt to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in Mauritius on April 12th. The carrier's next-generation widebodies also serve the Maldives, Punta Cana, Varadero, New York-JFK and Cancún.
Condor has now welcomed five Airbus A330neos into its fleet in the space of less than four months, with its first jet arriving on December 20th, 2022 - the carrier will take delivery of another 11 aircraft as part of an order for 16, hastening the retirement of its older Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767 fleet.
A330 Day
Not missing out on an opportunity to express its pride in the versatile widebody, Airbus celebrated 'A330 Day' on March 30th. The A330 program has registered over 1,750 orders since its inception - as per Airbus' orderbook, the A330-900 has attracted 290 orders, with the manufacturer completing 90 deliveries overall by the end of March.
The manufacturer adds that there are 22 operators of the A330neo-family - which includes the -900 and the smaller -800 variant - on over 200 routes and destinations globally. Following the arrival of the first A330neo to launch customer TAP Air Portugal in December 2018, other carriers to fly the widebody include Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, Lion Air and Corsair International.
