Lufthansa to reactive more Airbus A340-600s

According to AeroTelegraph, Lufthansa will activate more A340-600s to cope with the increased demand and to cover for the delayed deliveries of new aircraft. Five more A340s will return, taking the total number of A340-600s to ten by summer 2023.

The following aircraft are set to return to duty:

  • D-AIHF (543), stored at Teruel since 14 April 2020
  • D-AIHW (972), stored at Frankfurt since 18 August 2022
  • D-AIHX (982), stored at Teruel since 5 May 2020
  • D-AIHY (987), stored at Munich since 14 December 2022
  • D-AIHZ (1005), in maintenance at Manila since 18 December 2022

The ten A340-600s will be split evenly between Frankfurt and Munich.
