Philippine Airlines weighs split A350, B787 order - report

Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) plans to split an order for widebody aircraft between Boeing and Airbus, according to a Bloomberg report. Unnamed sources told the news agency that the carrier is preparing a firm order for about ten B787s and ten A350s.

The airline reportedly plans to announce the deal at the Farnborough International Airshow in late July 2026. The final composition of the order, however, remains subject to change as the carrier finalises the details.

Commenting on the report, Philippine Airlines' chief operating officer Carlu Fernandez told local outlet InsiderPH: "No final decision here yet. We're still in the process." The OEMs declined to comment to Bloomberg.

Philippine Airlines has not placed a direct Boeing order since 2007, when it ordered six B777-300ERs to replace its B747-400 fleet. The airline last ordered widebody aircraft in 2023, when it signed for nine A350-1000s with options for three additional aircraft.

The future Oneworld member operates a fleet of eighteen A321-200s, six A321-200Ns, two A321-200NX, eleven A330-300s, two A350-1000s, two A350-900s, and ten B777-300ERs. Regional subsidiary PAL Express (2P, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) operates nineteen A320-200s, four A321-200s, and eleven DHC-8-Q400s.

Bond offering

Separately, Philippine Airlines has priced an inaugural USD300 million five-year senior unsecured guaranteed bond carrying a 7.75% coupon, according to a company press release and a regulatory filing by parent PAL Holdings. The notes will be issued through wholly owned subsidiary Primero Agila Limited and are expected to settle on July 16, 2026.

Philippine Airlines and Air Philippines Corporation, which operates as PAL Express, will unconditionally and irrevocably guarantee the notes. They will be listed on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited.

According to the airline, the offering generated orders exceeding USD1.4 billion, representing an oversubscription of approximately 4.5 times.

PAL Holdings president Lucio C. Tan III said the transaction would allow the airline "to strengthen our network and continue to elevate the travel experience for our customers."

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim adds ACJ318-100

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim (DCF, Dubai World Central) has added an ACJ318-100, which will commence charter services shortly.

“The addition of the Airbus ACJ318 Elite+ builds upon DC Aviation Group's proud legacy of operating ACJ charter aircraft for more than 25 years,” said Holger Ostheimer, managing director of DC Aviation Al-Futtaim.

The 2010-built aircraft, registered in San Marino as T7-ELSA (msn 4211), was ferried between Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH and Dubai World Central on May 7, with a stop at Tirana. Certified for 19 passengers with seating for up to 21, the jet will be based and maintained at DC Aviation Al-Futtaim's hangar, FBO, and MRO complex at Dubai World Central.

This ACJ318-100 had been parked at Basel since January 2022, where AMAC Aerospace carried out a full interior and exterior refurbishment. Previously registered in the United Arab Emirates as A6-CAS, the jet was managed by currently inactive charter and management firm Constellation Aviation Services.

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim cited shifting client demand patterns as a key driver behind the induction of the corporate airliner. “Over the past 12 to 18 months, a growing preference has been noted for larger-cabin aircraft capable of undertaking non-stop intercontinental journeys. This trend is predominantly driven by family offices, government entities and corporate executives requiring enhanced flexibility, privacy, and time efficiency.”

Beyond the newly added ACJ318-100, DC Aviation Al-Futtaim manages a Challenger 650, a Global 5000, a Falcon 6X, a Falcon 7X, and a PC-12. Only the Challenger 650 and the Pilatus Aircraft turboprop are registered in the United Arab Emirates, while the Falcon 6X is registered in San Marino, the Global 5000 in Bermuda, and the Falcon 7X in the Isle of Man.

Other DC Aviation divisions manage ACJs, including Germany-based DC Aviation, which operates an ACJ319-100 and an ACJ320-200N, as well as DC Aviation Malta, which manages an ACJ319-100. DC Aviation San Marino does not operate any ACJ.

The group's wider fleet further comprises several aircraft manufactured by Bombardier Business Aircraft, Dassault Aviation, Embraer Executive Jets, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Textron Aviation.

SAS orders 18 Airbus A330neo to accelerate growth and fleet modernisation

Copenhagen, Denmark, 30 June 2026 - Scandinavian carrier SAS has placed a firm order with Airbus for 18 A330-900 aircraft as part of its ongoing fleet renewal strategy. The agreement was signed during a ceremony in Copenhagen by Anko van der Werff, SAS CEO and BenoƮt de Saint-ExupƩry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business.

The aircraft will support SAS’ ongoing international network expansion, allowing the airline to increase existing high capacity routes globally and introduce new routes.

“On behalf of SAS, I am delighted to announce this order for the Airbus A330-900. Combining outstanding economics with improved environmental performance, the aircraft will play a key role in our long-term fleet strategy. It will allow us to deliver an exceptional customer experience, expand our network, and offer greater flexibility and convenience for our passengers. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Airbus well into the future”, said Anko van der Werff.

“We are immensely proud to see SAS reaffirm its trust in Airbus to drive its fleet modernisation. The A330-900 is the undisputed benchmark for efficiency and versatility in its category. By integrating these 18 A330neo, SAS will benefit from unbeatable seat-mile economics and seamless operational synergies with its existing Airbus fleet," said BenoĆ®t de Saint-ExupĆ©ry.

Powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo is designed to fly up to 8,100 nautical miles / 15,000 kilometers non-stop and reduces fuel burn, CO2 emissions and operating cost by 25% compared to previous generation competitor aircraft. The A330neo unique Airspace cabin offers passengers and crews the latest modern in-flight products for a comfortable flying experience.

As with all Airbus aircraft, the A330 family is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a target to reach 100% SAF capability by 2030.

At the end of May 2026, the A330 Family had won over 1,950 orders from 133 customers worldwide.

China Eastern Airlines to buy 25 Airbus A330neo jets for list price of $9.4 billion

HONG KONG/PARIS, June 26 (Reuters) - China Eastern Airlines said on Friday it plans to buy 25 A330neo jets from Airbus for a catalogue price of about $9.35 billion, as the Chinese carrier expands its widebody fleet to serve more international routes.

The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in batches from 2029 to 2033, China Eastern said in a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, adding that the two companies signed the purchase agreement in Shanghai earlier in the day.

China Eastern said in the filing that the catalogue price of $9.35 billion is based on Airbus's January 2025 list prices and the actual transaction price would be lower, with the airline securing a discount more favourable than in previous purchases from the European planemaker. Large discounts are standard practice when airlines place sizeable orders with planemakers.

The Shanghai-based airline said the widebody jets would primarily be deployed from Shanghai Pudong Airport to expand intercontinental destinations and increase flight frequencies, bolstering the hub's role as a transfer centre for long-haul routes.

The deal comes months after China Eastern in March signed a separate agreement with Airbus to purchase 101 A320neo aircraft at a list price of about $15.8 billion, as major Chinese airlines point to a renewed focus on international expansion as a key growth driver.

It also comes as Airbus steps up efforts to expand its share in the world's second-largest aviation market, where it expects passenger traffic to grow by around 5% annually over the next two decades.

Reuters has reported the European planemaker has been in on-off negotiations in recent years to secure a huge order of up to 500 jets in China -- a type of package often tied to state visits -- but no deal was announced when French President Emmanuel Macron visited China in December.

The A330neo is an upgraded fuel-efficient version of the previous-generation Airbus A330 long-haul jet, featuring high-aspect-ratio wings and improved aerodynamics. It is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

China Eastern expects at least 10 of its older A330 jets to be retired on age grounds during the delivery period, meaning the new planes will partly serve as replacements.

The deal would be funded through a mix of the carrier's own capital, bank loans, bond issuances and other financing instruments. China Eastern said the phased payment structure was not expected to have a material impact on its cash flow or operations.

In a separate filing, China Eastern said one offshore unit would issue an overseas bond worth up to 2.8 billion yuan ($411.89 million), without specifying the use of proceeds.

Cathay Cargo to add A330(P2F) capacity via Air Hong Kong

Cathay Cargo will add capacity through an incremental A330-300(P2F) to be operated by Air Hong Kong (LD, Hong Kong International) under a long-term lease agreement with Air Transport Services Group subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management. The converted freighter is due to join Air Hong Kong's fleet in the fourth quarter of 2026. The aircraft will primarily serve mainland China and regional routes, in tandem with Cathay Cargo's upcoming A350Fs.

Shenzhen Airlines welcomes 1st Airbus A350-900

On 22 June 2026, Shenzhen Airlines welcomed its first Airbus A350-900. The aircraft, featuring a special "Amazing Shenzhen"-livery, is former Air China B-32F0 (614) and was ferried from Beijing-Capital to Shenzhen.

The A350 is the first of five A350-900s Air China will transfer to its subsidiary as part of a capital investment programme at Shenzhen Airlines. With this transfer, Air China will retain its 51% share in the airline and control.

Shenhen Airlines has announced it will launch commercial operations with its new A350 at the end of June 2026. It has released a schedule until mid-August that will see the type initially being used from Shenzhen to Beijing-Capital, Hangzhou, Harbin and Shanghai-Hongqiao.

Before welcoming the A350, Shenzhen Airlines' largest type in the fleet was the A330-300, of which they have six. Next to these, the airline's fleet is made-up of 72 A320s, 35 A320neos, eight A321neos, 71 Boeing B737-800s, and sixteen B737-8s.
