Bulgaria Air selects Airbus A220
Bloomberg is reporting that Bulgaria Air has selected the Airbus A220 to renew its fleet with. In total, the airline has signed leases for an initial three A220-300s, which are scheduled to be delivered this year in June, August and September. The airline is planning to utilize its new aircraft from Sofia to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London-Heathrow, and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
Bulgaria Air is currently operating a fleet of two A319s, five A320s and four Embraer ERJ190s. Of this fleet, the two A319s as well as the ERJ190s are scheduled to have left the fleet before the end of 2025 when their leases expire.
According to the airline's CEO speaking to Bloomberg, the airline has the ambition and wish to standardize the fleet on the Airbus A220 and doesn't rule-out additional aircraft later on.
