THE MONTH IN REVIEW: NOVEMBER 2016

Airbus booked orders for 15 of its single-aisle and widebody jetliners during November while making 61 deliveries involving all members of its current-production product line: the A320 Family, A330, A350 XWB and A380.
The new business for Airbus’ single-aisle A320 Family was composed of three A320ceo and five A321ceo (Current Engine Option) aircraft for an unidentified customer; five A320ceo versions for Air Arabia – the Sharjah, United Arab Emirates-based low-cost carrier that is an all-A320 operator; and one ACJ320neo (New Engine Option) corporate jet for a private customer.
November’s widebody order was from Hawaiian Airlines, which acquired another A330-200 for this U.S. operator’s already-large A330 fleet.
Taking the month’s bookings into account, Airbus’ annual net orders for 2016 reached 410 at the end-November.
Deliveries during the month were led by the 48 A320 Family airliners provided to customers and operators worldwide. Of this total, 11 were A320neo versions, including the first NEO for Kazakhstan flag carrier Air Astana – leased from Air Lease Corporation.
Widebody deliveries in November were composed of seven A330s, two A380s (provided to Emirates) and four A350 XWBs (one each received by Qatar Airways, LATAM, Cathay Pacific Airways and China Airlines).
With the month’s A350 XWB handover activity, the total year-to-date deliveries for these new jetliners in 2016 reached 34 aircraft as of 30 November, which were provided to nine operators.
Based on the month’s order and delivery activity, Airbus’ overall backlog at the end of November stood at 6,664 aircraft, composed of 5,460 A320 Family jetliners, 324 A330s, 761 A350 XWBs and 119 A380s.
