Jet, GoAir To Place USD$6.5 Bln Airbus Orders - Report

Indian carriers Jet Airways and GoAir will place aircraft orders worth USD$6.5 billion with Airbus at the Paris Air Show later this month, the Economic Times reported on Thursday, citing sources.
GoAir, the smallest budget airline in the country, will place a minimum order for 50 A320s worth USD$4 billion, while Jet Airways will buy 10 Airbus A330s worth USD$2.5 billion for its international plans, two sources with direct knowledge told the newspaper.
The average cost of the single-aisle A320 type is USD$80 million and that of the wide-body A330 is USD$250 million, the paper said.
A top-level sales team from Airbus is currently in Mumbai to complete the deal with GoAir, it said.
"We are buying 10 A330s from Airbus," Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal was quoted by the paper as telling the media in Singapore on the sidelines of the recently held annual general meeting of the International Air Transport Association.
Jet officials were not immediately available while the chief executive at GoAir declined to comment.
