Kuwait Airways receives its first A330-200

Fleet upgrade continues with the world’s most versatile wide-body

Kuwait Airways has taken delivery of its first A330-200, becoming a new operator for the type. In February 2014, Kuwait Airways announced the lease of 12 Airbus aircraft including 7 A320ceo and 5 A330-200s in addition to the purchase of 25 aircraft including 10 A350-900 and 15 A320neo Family aircraft marking the start of a major fleet renewal plan.
Kuwait Airways’ first A330-200 accommodates a three-class configuration of 17 full-sleeper first class modules, 30 very high-comfort business and 165 latest standard economy seats, a combination that shows a clear attention to comfort and efficiency detailed in the features that also include the latest Entertainment systems, and Connectivity throughout the cabin.
“The delivery of our first A330-200 marks a key milestone towards enhancing our fleet,” said Al Rasha Al Roumi, Kuwait Airways chairperson. “The addition of this highly efficient aircraft to our fleet ultimately translates to unbeatable operating costs, best-in-class services, unrivalled comfort and will maintain our schedule integrity and assist in increasing our load factors”

The A330 is one of the most popular widebody aircraft ever and has to date won over 1,500 orders, with over 1,100 flying with some 110 operators worldwide. The A330 Family is part of the world’s most modern and comprehensive widebody product line, which also includes the larger A350 XWB and double deck A380. Together, the various family members and type variants efficiently cover all airline widebody requirements for regional, medium and long-haul operations, seating from 250 to over 500 passengers and sharing unique levels of operational commonality.

Wizz Air signs for 110 A321neo aircraft

Single largest A321 order

Wizz Air, the largest low cost carrier serving Eastern and Central Europe, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the biggest single order for the popular A321neo aircraft. The deal signed at the 51st Le Bourget International Paris Air Show pushes NEO orders and commitments beyond 4,000. Significantly the order includes the latest A321neo Airbus Cabin Flex configuration with 239 seats in 18 inch comfort standard.
Currently Wizz Air operates 61 aircraft on one of Central and Eastern Europe’s most extensive networks with over 380 routes from 22 bases.

Synergy commits to 62 A320neo Family aircraft

Once firm, order will mark over 400 A320neo sold in Latin America

Synergy Aerospace Corporation, Avianca’s largest shareholder and owner of Avianca Brasil, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 62 A320neo Family aircraft. The agreement paves the way for Avianca Brasil to base its fleet renewal and network growth strategy on the A320neo Family.
“These 62 A320neo aircraft will make it possible for Avianca Brasil to take an important leap toward growing and modernizing its fleet, while improving passenger experience,” said German Efromovich, Chairman of Synergy. “Thanks to their excellent eco-efficiency, reliability and comfort, the A320neo Family will allow Synergy to strengthen its position in Latin America by offering Avianca Brasil passengers the best single aisle product available.”

Synergy has ordered 10 A350 XWBs, six A330-200 passenger, one A330-200 Freighter and 20 A320 Family aircraft. Avianca Brasil operates 38 A320 Family and one A330 Freighter aircraft.
The A320 Family is the world’s best-selling single aisle product line with more than 11,700 orders to date and over 6,500 aircraft delivered to 400 customers and operators worldwide. The newest member of the A320 Family, the A320neo, incorporates many innovations including latest generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, which together deliver more than 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020. With more than 3,800 orders received from 72 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320neo Family has captured almost 60 percent share of the market.
Once the order is firm, Airbus will have sold 407 A320neo aircraft to seven customers in Latin America -- Avianca, Azul, Interjet, LATAM, Synergy, VivaAerobus and Volaris. With more than 950 aircraft sold and a backlog of almost 500, nearly 600 Airbus aircraft are in operation throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. In the past 10 years, Airbus has tripled its in-service fleet while delivering more than 60 percent of all aircraft operating in the region. In May, Airbus celebrated its 500th aircraft delivery in Latin America.

VietJetAir orders six additional A321ceo

More A321s to join the all-Airbus fleet of fast-growing Vietnamese carrier

Vietnamese carrier VietJetAir has placed a firm order with Airbus for the purchase of six additional A321s. The order was signed today at the  Paris Air Show by VietJetAir President and CEO, Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, and Airbus President and CEO, Fabrice Brégier. 
“The A320 Family has proven to be extremely efficient in service with VietJetAir”, said Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, VietJetAir President and CEO. “Since we took delivery of our first A321 in March this year we have benefitted strongly from the additional capacity offered by the aircraft and its low operating costs. We are therefore placing this additional order for the A321 to meet demand on some of our most popular routes.”

VietJetAir first took to the skies at the end of 2011 and now operates a fleet of 25 A320 Family aircraft on a network covering Vietnam and a growing number of destinations across Asia. Following today’s announcement, the carrier has ordered a total of 69 aircraft from Airbus, including this order, and also holds purchase rights for another 30 aircraft.
The A321 is the largest member of the best-selling single aisle A320 Family. To date, the A320 Family has won more than 11,700 orders and over 6,500 aircraft delivered to more than 300 operators worldwide. Garuda Indonesia signs LOI for 30 A350 XWB

All-new widebody to develop carrier’s medium and long haul network

Garuda Indonesia has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Airbus for the purchase of 30 A350 XWB aircraft. Garuda Indonesia plans to use the A350 XWB to develop its medium and long haul network, with the aircraft offering the ability to fly non-stop from Jakarta or Bali to Europe.
“Following our success in revitalising our regional operation in Asia and the Pacific, the development of our long haul network will be a priority in the coming years,” said Arif Wibowo, CEO of Garuda Indonesia. “With its reduced fuel consumption, range capability and extra wide cabin, the A350 XWB will be one of the options for us to reposition ourselves as a leading premium carrier in the competitive long haul market out of Asia.”

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the aviation leasing and financing arm of General Electric [NYSE: GE] has announced a firm order for 60 A320neo Family aircraft including the A321neo at the 51st International Paris Air Show. GECAS has selected CFM’s LEAP-X engine for all 60 A320neo aircraft.
The deal was jointly announced today by Norman C.T. Liu, President and CEO of GECAS and John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. This new order brings the total number of A320 Family aircraft ordered by GECAS to 465, including 120 A320neo aircraft.

Thanks to its wide cabin, all members of the A320 Family offer the industry’s best level of comfort in all classes and Airbus’ 18” wide seats in economy as standard.  The newest member of the A320 Family, the A320neo, incorporates new generation engines and Sharklets (wing tip devices) which together deliver 15 percent in fuel savings. Including today’s order from GECAS, Airbus has won over 3,800 firm orders for the A320neo Family from 72 customers.
