Batik Air receives its first Airbus A320neo
Jakarta, Indonesia - Batik Air, the full-service subsidiary of Lion Air Group, has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo aircraft with a ceremony held at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Batik Air already has 44 previous generation A320 Family jets and one Airbus A330-300 widebody jet in its fleet.
The new A320neo of the Indonesian carrier is configured to accommodate 156 seats in total in a two-class cabin layout - 12 in Business Class and 144 in Economy Class. The aircraft with registration is powered by two CFM International Leap engines.
Batik Air has 112 Airbus A320neo more and 65 Airbus A320neo on order with the European planemaker. The planes will allow the Asian carrier to increase its seating capacity while expanding its regional network.
Thanks to their new generation engines and improved aerodynamic structure, the A320neo family jets also reduce the operating costs of the airline operators. Airbus has so far received 7,100 firm orders for its revamped single-aisle jets from over 100 customers worldwide.
