Cathay Pacific to start longhaul A350-1000 ops in late 3Q18

Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok) has announced it will begin scheduled longhaul A350-1000 operations during the third quarter of 2018.

The Swire Group carrier said in a statement it would deploy the first of the type into ultra-longhaul service on September 15, 2018, on a 4x weekly nonstop flight between Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok and Washington Dulles. At 7,085 nautical miles (8,153 miles, 13,122 kilometres), the service to the US capital will be the longest on the Cathay Pacific network in terms of distance.

As with the arrival of its A350-900 in May 2016, Cathay Pacific is expected to deploy the -1000 into shorthaul regional Asian services initially before placing it into intercontinental rotation.

Cathay Pacific has twenty aircraft of the type on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac). Earlier this year, it downgauged six previous orders to A350-900s while deferring delivery of five, due in 2020, to 2021. Current records show Cathay Pacific expects to add a total of eight A350-1000s in 2018.

Pegasus Airlines Orders 25 Airbus A321neo ACF

Pegasus Airlines Orders 25 Airbus A321neo ACF
December 21
MIAMI — Today, Pegasus Airlines placed an order for 25 Airbus A321neo ACF (Airbus Cabin Flex configuration). This order comes on top of 18 Airbus A321neo and 57 Airbus A320neos the carrier had already placed, composing a total firm order of 100 Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
Pegasus Airlines General Manager, Mehmet T. Nane, said during the announcement, “The order we placed in 2012 for 100 Airbus aircraft was the biggest order in Turkey’s aviation history at the time. We received the first aircraft of this order in Q3 2016 and now we have an agreement to convert 25 options into firm orders.”
According to Nane, Pegasus “will continue to grow its fleet one step at a time and with our new aircraft we will continue to offer more comfortable flights for our passengers.”
To date, the leading Turkish low-cost carrier, headquartered in Istanbul, offers more than 100 destinations worldwide with a fleet of 74 aircraft. And its selection to move to an all-Airbus fleet reflects its strategy to develop its domestic and international network.
Likewise, John Leahy, COO at Airbus, affirmed that “the latest Pegasus Airlines’ order for the A321neo ACF variant underlines that Airbus offers the best, most efficient and most comfortable solution in the Middle of the Market segment,” highlighting the fact that the A321neo is the only aircraft of its kind in the market.
Moreover, the A321neo ACF features a new door and fuselage enhancements offering airlines an adequate and improved use of the cabin space and also provide provision for more underfloor fuel capacity for up to 4,000nm transatlantic range.
The Airbus A321, which is the largest member of the Airbus A320 Family, seats a total of 240 passengers and incorporates the newest engines, cabin innovations, and aerodynamic technologies. Airbus has received over 5,200 orders from 95 clients worldwide for the plane.

Singapore Airlines Takes Delivery of Brand-New Airbus A380

Singapore Airlines Takes Delivery of Brand-New Airbus A380
December 13
MIAMI – Singapore Airlines (SIA) took delivery of a brand-new Airbus A380-800 with the airline’s latest cabin design and innovations.
Airbus hosted the special delivery ceremony in Toulouse, France, as it is the first of SIA’s A380 to feature the recently launched onboard cabin products. Airline Analyst Alex Macheras was present at the event.
“We are proud to deliver the first of five new A380s to Singapore Airlines featuring the carrier’s beautiful new cabin design,” said Tom Enders, Airbus CEO.
The A380 is the first of five new aircraft that are expected to join Singapore Airlines’ fleet by 2018. The carrier will also retrofit 14 A380s already in service with its new cabin products, which are scheduled to be retrofitted by 2020.
“We thank Singapore Airlines for its ongoing strong commitment to the A380 program and look forward to working together with the carrier as it renews and refreshes its fleet,” Enders remarked.
SIA’s new A380s will come with a capacity of 471 passengers, featuring more personal space, technology and all-new features in all classes.
The cabin features six private Suites, 78 Business Class seats on the upper deck, 44 Premium Economy Class and 343 Economy Class seats on the main deck.
The aircraft also has the latest in-flight entertainment systems and full connectivity from every seat.
“The delivery of our newest A380 with all-new cabin products is indeed an exciting occasion, and we are pleased to be celebrating this important milestone with our great partner Airbus,” said Singapore Airlines CEO, Goh Choon Phong.
“When we put the world’s first A380 into commercial service in 2007, it set new industry benchmarks for premium full-service air travel. A decade later, the Singapore Airlines A380, featuring our flagship products and legendary service, remains a customer favorite, and we continue to receive highly positive feedback about the travel experience on the aircraft,” Phong concluded.
Today the A380 is flying with 13 airlines on 120 routes around the globe. Since entry-into-service in 2007, the A380 world fleet has carried over 190 million passengers.
