Pictures: An Airbus A319 from Spirit was destroyed during maintenance
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico - An Airbus A319 from Spirit Airlines was severely destroyed during a maintenance operation.
The incident happened at the Lufthansa Technik facility in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
The Airbus A319 with registration N533NK was ferried to Aguadilla on Nov. 27 for maintenance. It appears that the aircraft had serious damage due to the jacks penetrating the haul and the wings.
There is not an official comment from Spirit and little known about the cause of the incident. It appears that the aircraft slipped off, or the jack on which the aircraft was lifted moved from their position.
Spirit's 12 years old Airbus A319 jet joined the airline's fleet in February 2008.
