Indonesia, Jakarta - Citilink, the low-cost subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900 aircraft from the Irish leasing company Avolon.
The aircraft was originally intended for the bankrupt budget operator WOW Air.
The newly delivered A330-900 is the airline's very first widebody jet in the fleet. All-Airbus operator Citilink currently operates 57 narrowbody jets, including 41 A320ceos and nine A320neos.
The carrier has 26 A320neos more on order waiting to be delivered over time.
The Asian budget operator expects one more Airbus A330-900 by the end of this year or early next year.
The acquisition of widebody jets is part of the airline's long-term business plan to add long-haul routes to its network and strategy alignment with its parent company Garuda Indonesia.
