Cebu Pacific Air (5J, Manila Ninoy Aquino Int'l) has announced in a press release that it firmed an order for sixteen A330-900s directly from Airbus, previously announced as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2019.
"The A330neo is integral to our fleet modernisation program. With this purchase, we aim to reduce our fuel emission and build a more sustainable operation. This will also give us the lowest cost per seat, at the same time enabling Cebu to increase seat capacity and maximize valuable airport slots in Manila and other Asian megacities," President and Chief Executive Lance Gokongwei said.
The Filipino LCC plans to equip the A330-900s with 460 all-economy-class seats and use them to operate high-density regional routes rather than long-haul services.
The MoU from June also included commitments for ten A321-200neo(LR)s and five A320-200neo, which have yet to be firmed.
Cebu Pacific is an all-Airbus operator with a fleet of thirty A320-200s, four A320neo, seven A321-200s, three A321neo, and eight A330-300s. Its regional subsidiary Cebgo (DG, Manila Ninoy Aquino Int'l) operates seven ATR72-500s, thirteen -600s, and a single ATR72-500(F).
