TAP picks Washington as first A321neo(LR) long-haul route
TAP Air Portugal (TP, Lisbon) has put its first A321-200neo(LR) tickets on sale, selecting the Lisbon-Washington Dulles route as the type's first service, ch-aviation analysis of the Portuguese carrier's schedule data has revealed.
The carrier's initial A321neo(LR) schedules have not been finalised yet and include some round-trips between Lisbon and Vienna in April. Subsequently, the carrier is planning to replace A330-200s on its new 5x weekly service to the US capital with the new narrowbody Airbus aircraft starting October 2.
From October 27, TAP also plans to deploy the aircraft 5x weekly between Lisbon and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, replacing A320-200s on the route.
TAP already operates four A321neo with plans to add two additional ex-Primera Air Scandinavia (PF, Billund) aircraft on lease from GECAS. It has twenty-two additional A321neo on order from Airbus as of December 31, 2018, twelve of which will be A321neo(LR).
