Air France Studying Revamped A320neo
April 14, 2011
Air France said on Thursday it was in talks with Airbus to study the benefits of a revamped and more efficient airliner, the A320neo.
BFM Radio reported earlier Airbus was well placed to sell the new version of its best-selling medium-haul A320 to Air France, which was also in talks with engine makers.
The A320neo boasts new engines and is due to enter service in late 2015.
"Discussions are continuing with Airbus and the engine manufacturers to evaluate the gains the Neo A320 will bring to Air France-KLM's own network," a spokesman said.
"Air France is particularly attentive to new medium-haul projects offered by manufacturers, the most important of which is the A320 equipped with new engines," he added.
Airbus rival Boeing is mulling a new version of its competing 737 plane and expects a decision around mid-year.
