Airbus Updates No.2605

Airbus records 15 A350 cancellations but reveals order for 10
Airbus has recorded cancellations of 15 A350s as well as four A330neos during March, although it secured a firm agreement for 10 A350s from an undisclosed customer.
Six A350-1000s and four A350-900s from Latin America’s LATAM are part of the cancellation.
Five A350-900s ordered by Kuwait Airways have also been removed from the backlog, although these aircraft had already been due for cancellation after the airline signed for A330neos.
Airbus’s latest backlog revision shows four A330-900s for lessor Avolon have been cut.
Avolon had previously indicated that it was axing the four aircraft as part of its measures to adjust to the coronavirus impact.
The airframer’s figures, covering the first quarter of 2020, shows it secured a deal with lessor AerCap for 50 A320neo-family jets. This agreement covers 25 A321neos and 25 A320neos.
Airbus took gross orders for 356 aircraft during the first three months of the year, with a total of 66 cancellations.
Chief executive Guillaume Faury, speaking on 8 April as the airframer disclosed cuts in its production rates, said the airframer had not yet experienced many cancellations directly as a result of the coronavirus situation. But he added that orders would not be “the name of the game” for several months.
