easyJet (U2, London Luton) has announced revisions to its Airbus order book. In its FY2018 disclosure, the UK-headquartered low-cost carrier said it had firmed purchase rights for seventeen A320neo while at the same time converting twenty-five A320neo purchase rights to purchase options thus securing delivery slots in 2024.
However, it has chosen to defer delivery dates on eighteen A320neo by up to 24 months.
"This provides additional flexibility to easyJet's existing plans: by 2022 easyJet could increase its fleet size to 385 or reduce it to 316, using existing Airbus delivery arrangements and operating lease optionality," it said.
With these recent adjustments, easyJet's commitments with Airbus as of September 30, 2018, stand at 100 firm A320neo along with twenty-five purchase options and fifty-eight unexercised purchase rights. In terms of outstanding A321neo, the LCC has twenty-seven on firm order from the Europeans.
Now a virtual carrier, easyJet charters in capacity from each of its three production AOCs - easyJet Europe, easyJet Switzerland, and easyJet UK - which collectively operate a fleet of 115 A319-100s, 150 A320ceo, sixteen A320neo, and three A321neo.
