Airbus Delivers 69 Planes In September
LONDON – The European planemaker, Airbus, has delivered 69 planes in September, recording some 37 brand new orders for its A320 Family program.
The main highlight of the month was the deal struck with Viva Aerobus for 25 A321neos, meaning that the Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier will almost double its current fleet from 27 to 52 Airbus planes.
Other orders of interest were the seven A320neos and three A321neos that Swiss Air Lines placed.
The smaller orders came from SalamAir, Oman’s budget airline, for one A320neo as well as one ACJ320neo placed by an unidentified customer.
These 37 new orders bring the total from January-September to 256 aircraft, consisting on 198 A320 Family planes, eight A330 Family wide bodies, 36 A350s and 14 A380s.
DELIVERY DETAILS
In terms of deliveries, 51 of the 69 came from the A320 Family, followed by three A220s and 15 widebodies.
From the A320 Family, 37 of them were within the A320neo/A321neo range.
On the widebodies front, four A330-200/300s, 10 A350-900/1000s, and one A380 were delivered to prospective customers.
This now means that in total for the January-September period, 503 aircraft have been delivered.
All in all, the orders front has been much stronger compared to August 2018 when only 13 units were ordered by customers. The deliveries front has also seen a rise from 54 in August 2018 to 69 in September.
As of September 30, 2018, Airbus has recorded 18,849 orders, delivered 11,466 planes to 433 active operators and 414 customers.
