Incident: Ural A320 near Novosibirsk on Nov 6th 2011, navigation system failure

A Ural Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration VQ-BDJ performing flight U6-99 from Novosibirsk to Moscow Domodedovo (Russia) with 130 passengers and 7 crew, was climbing through FL310 when the crew received indication of a navigation system failure prompting them to return to Novosibirsk. The aircraft landed safely about 50 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The West Siberian Prosecution Office reported a warning concerning a possible navigation system failure prompted the return to Novosibirsk's Tolmachevo Airport. The office is looking into compliance with passenger rights

Incident: Dragonair A321 near Hong Kong on Nov 5th 2011, burning smell on board

A Dragonair Airbus A321-200, registration B-HTD performing flight KA-207 from Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to Hong Kong (China) with 154 passengers and 9 crew, was enroute over the South China Sea about one hour prior to estimated landing in Hong Kong when a number of passengers noticed a burning smell on board, which was confirmed by cabin crew prompting the flight crew to declared emergency and to accelerate approach and landing to Hong Kong. The aircraft landed safely in Hong Kong about 50 minutes later, responding emergency services found no evidence of fire, heat or smoke.

The airline reported the aircraft was thorougly examined, however no trace of fire, heat or smoke was identified and no malfunction was found

Incident: Swiss A320 near Zurich on Nov 6th 2011, returned twice due to brakes indication

A Swiss Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IJS performing flight LX-2154 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) with 63 passengers, had just reached cruise level 390 when the crew received a brakes indication and decided to return to Zurich for a safe landing on Zurich's runway 14 about 50 minutes after departure.

Following maintenance work the aircraft departed again after about 60 minutes on the ground and was climbing through FL150 when the same problem surfaced again. The crew stopped the climb and returned again to Zurich for a safe landing on runway 14 about 20 minutes after second departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration HB-IJQ reached Mallorca with a delay of 4 hours, however not with all passengers as a number decided to not attempt a third departure.

Incident: Iran A306 at London on Nov 6th 2011, burst tyre on departure

An Iran Air Airbus A300-600, registration EP-IBD performing flight IR-710 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran), burst tyres on departure from London Heathrow, levelled off at 6000 feet and diverted to Kent International,EN (UK) about 67nm east of London Heathrow for a safe landing about 25 minutes after departure.

The following day's flight IR-720 from Frankfurt (Germany) to Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran), another Airbus A300-600 registration EP-IBC, was diverted to Kent to pick up the passengers and is estimated to reach Tehran with a delay of 4.5 hours for flight IR-720 and 25 hours for flight IR-710.

Incident: Air Canada A320 at Los Angeles on Oct 30th 2011, jammed flaps

An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FLSS performing flight AC-793 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Los Angeles,CA (USA) with 114 people on board, was on final approach to Los Angeles' runway 24R when the crew went around after receiving a "F/CTL FLAPS LOCKED" ECAM message. Working the checklists did not resolve the problem. The aircraft subsequently landed on Los Angeles' runway 25R at a higher than normal speed about 20 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance reset the wing tip brake of the flaps system, subsequent checks revealed no further fault

Incident: LAN A320 near Santiago on Nov 5th 2011, electrical problem

A LAN Airlines Airbus A320-200, CC-BAO flight LA-285 from Santiago to Punta Arenas (Chile) with 154 passengers, was already enroute about 40 minutes into the flight when the crew received indication of an electrical malfunction, which also failed cabin lighting, and decided to return to Santiago for a safe landing.

Following repairs the aircraft was able to depart again and reached Punta Arenas with a delay of 3.5 hours.

Accident: LAN A320 over Andes on Nov 8th 2011, turbulence injures 2

A LAN Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration CC-BAG performing flight LA-942 from Santiago (Chile) to Cordoba,CD (Argentina), was enroute over the Andes Mountains at around 15:00L (18:00Z) when the aircraft experienced severe turbulence causing injuries to two passengers. The aircraft continued to Cordoba for a safe landing, the two passengers were taken to a local hospital with concussions.

Following inspection the aircraft was able to depart for the return flight with some delay

Incident: Germanwings A319 near Dresden on Nov 9th 2011, bleed system trouble

A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWE performing flight 4U-3751 from Vienna (Austria) to Hanover (Germany), was descending through FL250 towards Hanover, about 70nm northnorthwest of Dresden (Germany) and about 110nm eastsoutheast of Hanover, when the crew requested an immediate diversion to Dresden. On approach to Dresden the crew reported bleed system problems which reduced their anti ice system capabilities, due to icing conditions in Hanover the diversion to Dresden was necessary. The aircraft landed safely in Dresden about 20 minutes after initiating the diversion.

The aircraft was able to position to Hanover after about 4 hours on the ground and resumed service thereafter.

Incident: Windjet A320 near Catania on Nov 9th 2011, door bang in flight

A Windjet Airbus A320-200, registration EI-DFN performing flight IV-576 from Catania to Milan Linate (Italy), was climbing out of Catania about 20 minutes into the flight when a loud bang was heard from one of the forward entrance doors followed by deafening sounds. The crew decided to divert to Rome Fiumicino, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 16R about an hour later.

A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration EI-ECY reached Milan with a delay of 2:45 hours.

Mechanics identified a faulty door gasket as cause of the bang. The incident aircraft was able to position back to Catania about 4 hours after landing.
