 Sun PhuQuoc to add Airbus A330-200's

Newcomer Sun PhuQuoc has announced it will expand the fleet with the Airbus A330. It will use the widebody-type as a bridge until their first newly ordered Boeing B787-9 arrives in 2031.

The airline has secured eight A330-200s. Two are set to be delivered in September, one in October and another one in December. The remaining four are set to arrive in the first months of 2027. They will be, intially, used for expansion to Kazakhstan and Russia. Later, the A330 will also be used for expansion to Australia, Czech Republic, Japan, and Poland.

All eight A330-243s are former American Airlines-aircraft that have been parked for quite a long while:

 

 

• N286AY (1415), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-April 2025 and since August 2026 at Peru-Grissom (IN). Will become VN-A969.
• N287AY (1417), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-June 2025. At Mexico-City since June 2025 and will become VN-A970.
• N288AY (1441), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-December 2025. Currently at Marana (AZ) and will become VN-A971.
• N289AY (1455), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-April 2026. Now at Mexico-City and set to become VN-A972.
• N290AY (1480), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-January 2026. Being prepared at Marana (AZ) and will be VN-A973.
• N291AY (1502), parked Roswell (NM) May 2020-July 2026. Also at Mexico-City now and will be registered VN-A974.
• N292AY (1512), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-April 2026. Now at Marana (AZ) and will become VN-A975.
• N293AY (1526), parked Roswell (NM) April 2020-July 2026. Another one parked at Mexico-City now and will be VN-A976.

Currently, the Sun PhuQuoc-fleet is made-up of three A320neos, two A321s, and twelve A321neos. As mentioned before, the airline has open orders with Boeing for 20 B787-9s with options on another 20.
