Airbus Updates No.4268

Germany's Condor takes first A320neo

Condor (DE, Frankfurt International) took delivery of its first A320-200N on April 24, 2024, kick starting the renewal of its narrowbody fleet.

D-ANCZ (msn 12031) was ferried directly from Toulouse Blagnac to Frankfurt International. The aircraft is on lease from Avolon and configured for up to 180 passengers in a single-class layout. Condor plans to induct the aircraft into revenue service on May 15, with the first flight to Palma de Mallorca.

The German leisure specialist plans to add 41 new-generation narrowbodies, comprising thirteen A320-200Ns and twenty-eight A321-200Ns. The first A321neo is scheduled for delivery in June. Only two units of each type are on direct orders from Airbus, with the remainder due from various lessors. The ch-aviation fleets module shows that at least two A320neo and four A321neo will come from BOC Aviation, and at least seventeen A321neo from Air Lease Corporation. The deliveries of the new-generation narrowbodies are set to conclude by 2029.

The A320/1neo will replace Condor's current narrowbody fleet, which includes twelve A320-200s, thirteen A321-200s, and nine B757-300s.

Condor recently retired its last B767-300ERs and completed the renewal of its widebody fleet, which currently comprises fifteen A330-900s. It has eight more due, including four from Airbus and four from lessors (including two from AerCap). The carrier's fleet renewal was sparked by the acquisition by Attestor Capital in 2021.
