Azores Airlines takes first Airbus A320neo
Azores Airlines (S4, Ponta Delgada) took delivery of its first A320-200N on November 7, 2023. The carrier aims to replace all three A320-200s with the same number of new-generation aircraft.
CS-TSK (msn 11664) was ferried from Toulouse Blagnac to Lisbon, where it will undergo pre-induction maintenance and registration procedures. The airline said the A320neo would enter revenue service as soon as the formalities are completed, but did not give a specific timeline letalone file schedules for the type. The aircraft is configured for up to 168 passengers in a single-class layout.
The airline expecteds the second A320neo in early 2024 and the third in early 2025, although deliveries might be delayed. The first one was delivered four months behind the original deadline.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that Azores Airlines already operates two A321-200Ns and three A321-200NX(LR)s. It has no plans to resume widebody operations. Fellow Grupo SATA carrier SATA Air Acores (SP, Ponta Delgada) operates two DHC-8-Q200s and five DHC-8-Q400s on local routes connecting the Azores archipelago.
