First Airbus A220-300 built in Mobile rolls out paint shop

Mobile, Alabama - The first Airbus A220-300 jet assembled in Airbus' Mobile plant in Alabama, United States, rolled out the final assembly line.
The 130-seat aircraft will be delivered to the US operator Delta Air Lines. Delta Air Lines has six copies of -300 variant of the A220 Family in its order book with the European aircraft manufacturer. All planes are scheduled for delivery by the end of this year.
Delta Air Lines has 30 A220-100 in its fleet, and ten more will join the US carrier's fleet over time. Delta took delivery of the first -100 variant in February 2019.
Delta is the launch operator of A220-100 in North America.

Airbus to reduce A330neo production due to deferral request from the largest customer

Toulouse, France - European planemaker Airbus considers reducing its A330neo production after AirAsia X, the largest customer of the type, deferred the deliveries of 76 A330-900s on order.
AirAsia X has recently announced that it had to delay some A330neo deliveries due to the coronavirus-driven slump in air travel.
The Malaysian carrier is representing about one-fourth of A330neo orders in the Airbus' backlog. The current situation shows just how quickly the travel slowdown is rippling the airline operators and commercial aircraft manufacturers globally.
AirAsia X is part of the Air Asia Group and the Group's low-cost subsidiary is one of the largest foreign operators in China. The Chinese market represents 30% of its capacity. China is still the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak and commercial flights have fallen by as much as 80% throughout the country.
AirAsia X also said it would return some older planes to lessors earlier than planned.
30 of the popular routes on which A330neos operated are mainly in the Asia-Pacific region and eight of them heavily exposed to the virus. On March 4, CEO Guillaume Faury said that he was expecting a tough year.
The market for wide-bodies was already soft when the coronavirus first started upending travel earlier this year. In February, Airbus scaled back 2020 output plans for A330 aircraft by about 25% from 53 in 2019. It also said it would hold the production of the larger A350 at 9 or 10 per month.
Its rival Boeing said in late January that it planned to reduce the production of its 787 Dreamliner to 10 a month in early 2021 from a planned rate of 12 this year.
While wide-bodies generate more profit per aircraft, airlines are switching to smaller and more-fuel efficient single-aisle jets that can fly long distances. Airbus has seen demand for its A320 family of narrow-bodies soar, especially for larger and longer-range variants.

Aer Lingus takes delivery of world's last new-build A330-300

Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin Int'l) has taken delivery of its tenth and final A330-300, which is also the world's last unit of the type built by Airbus.
EI-EIN (msn 1951) was ferried from Toulouse Blagnac to Brussels National on February 28, 2020, and has remained at the Belgian gateway since then, RadarBox24 ADS-B data shows.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that there are four more completed, albeit undelivered, A330-300s, namely msn 1863, 1865, 1874, and 1940. The quartet was initially destined for Hong Kong Airlines (HX, Hong Kong Int'l) but have not been handed over due to the carrier's financial troubles.
The world's last new-build A330-200, F-HLVN (msn 1936), was delivered to OpenSkies (LV, Paris Orly) (which operates on behalf of LEVEL) on October 1, 2019.
Airbus continues to assemble military tanker variants of the A330-200s, KC-30Bs, as well as the A330-200-based A330-700STs. However, in terms of passenger versions, only the neo variants (A330-800 and A330-900) remain in production. The manufacturer no longer offers new-build A330-200(F)s.

Acropolis takes delivery of first completed ACJ320neo

UK VVIP charter operator Acropolis Aviation has taken delivery of the first outfitted Airbus ACJ320neo from Swiss completions company AMAC Aerospace, and is preparing the luxury re-engined narrowbody for its first commercial flight on 3 March.
The arrival of the ACJ320neo (G-KELT) on 27 February came a little over a year after the green aircraft arrived at AMAC’s Basel headquarters.

Created by French design house Alberto Pinto, the interior accommodates 19 passengers. It features a forward lounge and dining area, a full-sized kitchen and a private master bedroom leading to a luxury en-suite with the largest shower “ever to be installed in an Airbus single-aisle aircraft”, says Acropolis.
G-KELT has been fitted with the Collins Aerospace Venue cabin management system and Stage in-flight entertainment system, “allowing hundreds of movies and TV programmes to be viewed on 19 individual iPads and four large TV screens throughout the cabin”, the operator adds.
Collins is also providing its Viu LED mood interior lighting system, while its Airshow moving map display features on the four large cabin screens.
The CFM International Leap-1A-powered narrowbody also features in-flight wi-fi via a Ka-band internet connection.

“We are absolutely delighted with the high quality of workmanship that has gone into the creation of G-KELT since it arrived green in January 2019,” says Acropolis chief executive Jonathan Bousfield. “AMAC Aerospace has created something very special, which will set new standards of comfort and well-being within the VVIP charter market, fully utilising the cabin space.”
G-KELT will make its public debut in May at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, in Geneva, Switzerland.
