Levu Air Cargo to resume ops with sole Airbus A321F

Levu Air Cargo (LVU) is planning to resume operations after a six-month hiatus. The general director, Lucas Menero, told ch-aviation that its sole A321-200(PCF) PS-LVU (msn 775) is currently undergoing maintenance and should re-enter service soon.

Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows that the aircraft was grounded at Manaus International from December 5, 2024, until May 10, 2025, when it operated a flight to São José dos Campos U.E. Stumpf International. The 1998-vintage aircraft remains on the ground at São José dos Campos, with no confirmed date for its return to service.

Menero revealed that Levu Air Cargo also plans to expand its fleet with one more jet, but did not disclose which specific aircraft type it intends to obtain.

The airline previously told ch-aviation that it wants to add another A321-200(PCF) and was also looking to secure two A330-300(P2F)s for the launch of a Brazil-US service. However, due to the prolonged grounding of its sole aircraft, the airline's future plans remain in limbo.

Levu Air Cargo obtained its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from Brazil's civil aviation authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil - ANAC) in November 7, 2024. It started the freight operations only a few days later, partnering with DHL Worldwide Express. The airline abruptly stopped operations in December, after PS-LVU conducted a flight from Recife to Manaus.

Animawings cuts routes amid Airbus A220 delivery delays

Animawings (A2, Bucharest Henri Coanda) will cut two routes in its network during the 2025 summer season due to delays in the delivery of new A220-300s, the chief commercial officer Diana Dima told ch-aviation.

The Bucharest Henri Coanda-Oradea service will be suspended between June 11 and October 1, while the opening of a Bucharest-Dublin International route, planned for July 21, will be postponed indefinitely.

The airline had initially expected to add aircraft during the summer, but the delivery was postponed to September 2025. ch-aviation Commercial Aviation Aircraft Data data shows that Animawings is set to take two A220-300s under a dry-lease contract with Azorra, but the airline did not disclose whether both aircraft were planned for delivery during the 2025 summer season.

Animawings currently operates two A220-200s and three A320-200s. The company recently announced it would temporarily station one A320-200 at Timisoara and is considering opening more bases across Romania.

On 28 May 2025, Royal Jordanian took delivery of its first Airbus A320neo. The aircraft is leased via Avolon and was handed-over after the delivery ceremony at Toulouse-Blagnac. JY-RAD (12304) later departed to its home at Amman.

Air Niugini ups Airbus A220-100 order

Air Niugini has disclosed it has ordered additional Airbus A220s. It did so when it celebrated its first A220 being in final assembly. The deal is for two A220-100s, which were previously booked as undisclosed by Airbus.

The airline selected the A220 in November 2023 and ordered six A220-100s directly with Airbus. It also signed a lease-agreement with Azorra for three A220-300s.

According to Air Niugini, the first A220 is scheduled to be delivered in September 2025. It plans to, initially, use its new aircraft to replace its ageing four Fokker 70s and five Fokker 100s. Later, the airline also plans to replace its three Boeing B737-800s with the type in order to standardise the fleet.

Air Niugini will become the 25th operator of the A220, of which now more than 900 have been ordered.

Wizz Air UK takes delivery of first Airbus A321XLR

Wizz Air UK (W9, London Luton) took delivery of its first A321-200NY(XLR) on May 20, around two months behind the original schedule.

G-XLRA (msn 11631) was ferried from AirbusHamburg Finkenwerder plant to London Luton. The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1000 engines and can seat up to 239 passengers in an all-economy cabin configuration. The delivery of the aircraft was deferred twice, it having originally been expected to arrive in March 2025.

Wizz Air UK intends to deploy the jet on the London Gatwick-Jeddah International route. The budget carrier initially planned to operate only an A321XLR on the route but was forced to inaugurate the service with an A321-200NX. Due to the shorter range, Wizz Air introduced a passenger capacity limit on its A321NX in order to enable non-stop operations.

Wizz Air previously announced a new service between Milan Malpensa and Abu Dhabi International for June 2025 operated by the A321XLR, but the route was cancelled for unknown reasons. Hungary's foreign minister, Péter Szijjártó, said during a state visit to India that Wizz Air could introduce a new route from Budapest and Mumbai International, with a potential Delhi International service also under consideration. However, the airline has not officially announced plans for an expansion to India.

According to ch-aviation fleets data, Wizz Air UK currently operates eighteen A321-200NX aircraft. It has forty-seven A321XLRs on order across its four AOCs (also including Wizz Air Malta and joint venture Wizz Air Abu Dhabi). The company is the fourth-largest customer for the A321XLR, with only IndiGo AirlinesAmerican Airlines, and United Airlines poised to receive more jets.

The A321XLR is currently in service with Iberia and Aer Lingus, with the two airlines operating three and two aircraft, respectively. The Spanish flag carrier was the launch operator of the type, receiving the first unit in October 2024 and currently deploying the aircraft on services to the United States.

Uzbek president agrees to buy Airbus jets during state visit

A spokesperson for the Uzbek government says the country's president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, agreed to buy fourteen Airbus aircraft and lease five more during a state visit to France in March. Sherzod Asadov also said negotiations are underway with Boeing to buy 12 of its aircraft.

Mirziyoyev announced his intention to refresh the fleet at state-owned Uzbekistan Airways (HY, Tashkent International) during an April 9, 2025, government meeting, according to The Tashkent Times. However, it is unclear whether his comments referred to an earlier plan to sign a memorandum of understanding with Boeing for fourteen incremental B787-8s and an even earlier deal with Airbus to buy eight A320-200Ns and four A321-200Ns, or were additional to them.

Uzbekistan Airways' current fleet includes 45 aircraft, including nine A320-200s, ten A320-200Ns, five A321-200NX(LR)s, two wet-leased A330-200s, two ACJ320-200s, five B767-300ERs, two B767-300ER(BCF)s, seven B787-8s, two Il-76TDs, and one Pilatus PC-24. The majority of the aircraft are owned, although the ch-aviation fleets module shows Uzbekistan Airways leases the A320neo and A321neo jets. The latest Airbus delivery data shows that the manufacturer has yet to deliver nine narrowbodies to the airline.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan Airways appears to have back-pedalled on plans to sell aircraft formerly in long-term storage and will reactivate one of its parked B767UK67007 (msn 33469) went out of service in May 2020. In January 2023, ch-aviation reported on a call by the airline for expressions of interest to acquire two of its B757-200s and two B767-300ERs, UK67007 and UK67008 (msn 33078), that were surplus to requirements.

However, this week, Uzbekistan Airways unveiled a refurbished UK67007. "Uzbekistan Airways' fleet is being replenished with an updated B767 widebody aircraft with registration number UK67007," read May 7 posts on its social media platforms. "The aircraft has undergone extensive technical training after long-term storage and will begin operating flights very soon."
